Feature
Whisper
Whisper is SHY's messaging — and it only exists between two people whose interest is mutual. There are no unsolicited DMs on SHY.
How it works
- You express interest with Gravity; so do they.
- When interest is mutual, SHY opens the moment — and Whisper becomes available for the two of you.
- Conversations support text, voice, and media, with server-enforced access on every thread — blocking someone ends the thread's reachability immediately.
Why it exists
The first message hits different when you already know the interest is mutual. And an inbox that only mutual people can enter is a calmer, safer inbox.
Questions
Can someone message me without matching?
No. The server refuses message delivery between people without a mutual connection — this is enforced in backend code, not just hidden in the interface.
What happens when I block someone?
The block is enforced server-side in both directions: no messages, no discovery visibility, no new connection paths.
Are my messages protected?
New threads use device-held keys for end-to-end protection of content, alongside per-thread server access control.
