We collect information you provide to create and use an account, including contact details, profile information, photos, preferences, and communications you choose to send through SHY. We also collect information needed to operate and protect the service, such as account activity, device and diagnostic information, and support requests. With permission, we may process general location information to support nearby discovery and safety tools.

How we use information

We use information to provide the service, help people discover compatible connections, facilitate communication, operate safety and moderation tools, maintain account security, respond to support requests, and improve the product. Optional product analytics on the SHY website are enabled only after you choose to allow them in the cookie notice.

When information is shared

Profile information is shown to other people only as part of the service experience. Messages are available to people in the conversation. We use service providers to operate core infrastructure, authentication, notifications, diagnostics, and payments where applicable. We may disclose information when required by law or to protect the safety, rights, and security of people and the service.

• Manage available visibility, location, and permission controls in the app or through device settings.
• Request access, correction, deletion, or an export of personal information.
• Choose essential-only website storage or allow optional product analytics when the cookie notice is shown.

Security and retention

SHY uses access controls and security measures designed to protect information. We retain information for as long as needed to provide the service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Retention can vary by the type of information, the purpose it was collected for, and account status.

Children

SHY is not intended for people under 18, and we do not knowingly provide the service to children.
