SHY terms of service

Be real. Be respectful. Stay safe.

These terms set out the rules for using SHY. They apply when you access the website or app and should be read with our Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines.

Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 years old to use SHY. Keep your account information accurate, protect your account credentials, and do not create an account for someone else. You are responsible for activity on your account and for telling us promptly if you believe it has been compromised.

Using SHY responsibly

Use SHY lawfully and treat other people with respect. Do not harass, threaten, impersonate, scam, send unsolicited commercial messages, upload unlawful content, or use automated systems to access the service without permission. The Community Guidelines explain these expectations in more detail.

Connections and real-world plans

SHY provides tools that can help people discover one another, communicate, and consider a next step. We do not guarantee a connection, a response, a date, a relationship, or the conduct of another person. Make your own decisions about communication and in-person meetings, and use the safety tools when needed.

Safety, reporting, and moderation

Use the app’s reporting and blocking tools when needed. SHY may investigate reports and remove content, restrict features, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate these terms or create a safety risk. If you believe an account decision is wrong, use the appeal path in your notification or email [email protected]. For immediate danger, contact local emergency services.

Your content

You retain rights in the content you share, subject to the permissions needed for SHY to host, display, and operate the service. You are responsible for having the rights to share your content and must not post another person’s private information or intimate content without permission. Where SHY offers a paid feature or subscription, the price, billing cadence, renewal terms, and any available cancellation information will be shown before you purchase. Payments are processed through the relevant third-party payment provider. Additional purchase terms may apply at checkout.

Service changes and disputes

We may update, improve, limit, or discontinue parts of the service. We may update these terms from time to time and will provide any notice required by law. For a dispute, contact support first so we can try to resolve it. The dispute process shown in the app at the time of your acceptance applies to the extent permitted by law.

Your licence to use SHY

Subject to these terms, SHY Technologies LLC grants you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the SHY app and website for your own non-commercial use. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, scrape, resell, or create derivative works from the service, and you may not use automated systems to access it without our written permission.

What you may not do

In addition to the conduct described above and in the Community Guidelines, you must not: create an account if you are under 18 or have previously been removed from SHY; impersonate anyone; solicit money, gifts, or investment from other members; advertise or recruit; collect other people's information; upload malware; interfere with the service or its security; use SHY where doing so would break the law that applies to you; or misrepresent your identity in verification.

Subscriptions, billing, and cancellation

Where SHY offers a paid option, the price, billing period, and renewal behaviour are shown before you buy. Paid options renew automatically for the same period unless you cancel before the current period ends, and cancelling stops future charges without refunding the period already paid, except where the law requires otherwise. Purchases made through the Apple App Store or Google Play are billed and cancelled through that store under its rules; manage or cancel them in your store account. Prices may change with notice, and any change applies to periods after the notice.

Refunds

Except where the law of your place of residence gives you a refund right, payments are non-refundable. If you believe you were charged in error, contact [email protected] and we will look into it.

Third-party services

SHY relies on third parties for infrastructure, payments, notifications, and optional sign-in; those providers are listed on our data recipients page and operate under their own terms. SHY may link to places and businesses in the real world. We do not control third-party services or venues, and we are not responsible for them.

App store terms

If you install SHY from the Apple App Store or Google Play, that store's terms also apply. Apple and Google are not parties to these terms, are not responsible for the app or for support, and any claim about the app is between you and SHY Technologies LLC — though Apple and its subsidiaries may enforce these terms as third-party beneficiaries where their rules require it.

Notices and electronic communications

By creating an account you agree to receive communications from SHY electronically — in the app or at the email on your account — and that those satisfy any requirement that a communication be in writing. Service and security messages are part of having an account; marketing messages can be turned off in settings.

Beta and changing features

Some features roll out by account and location. Availability can change, and we may add, alter, or withdraw features. We describe what is live on the product page.

Ending your use of SHY

You can stop using SHY and delete your account at any time from account settings; deletion follows the process described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate accounts as described in these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive — including content permissions you granted while the account was active, disclaimers, and limitations of liability — survive termination.

Disclaimers

SHY is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, SHY Technologies LLC disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, and we do not make promises about other members — including their identity, conduct, or compatibility — beyond the verification signals the product itself displays.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, SHY Technologies LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from or relating to your use of the service — including the conduct of other members online or offline. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid SHY in the twelve months before the claim or one hundred US dollars. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you; nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify SHY Technologies LLC and its officers and employees against claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your use of the service, or your breach of these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where the law of your place of residence requires otherwise. Where a dispute is not subject to a different process described at your acceptance, it will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Missouri, and both sides consent to that venue — except where the law of your place of residence gives you the right to a different forum.

Other terms

If part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. These terms, together with the policies they reference, are the entire agreement between you and SHY Technologies LLC about the service. If we do not enforce a provision, that is not a waiver. You may not transfer your rights under these terms; we may assign ours in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets with notice where required.
